One of the unique fish in the shark family, is the Thresher Shark. For having a longer tail than the usual shark, you can easily spot them underwater as they move slowly. Thresher Shark is difficult to approach as they are known to be shy, but sometimes you just get lucky! Often to swim around Fuvahmulah, divers will have the chance to spot them during the dive.

Thresher sharks are primarily found in open ocean environments and are known for their long tails, which they use to stun and capture prey. Fuvahmulah, being an island located in the southern part of the Maldives, offers diverse marine life and excellent diving opportunities. thresher sharks are commonly encountered in this particular region.
